Melt recently returned from hiatus, so Umami, Makizushi, and Ms. D decided to get a couple of sandwiches and split them three ways.
|
Pastrami Melt |
First up, the Pastrami Melt ($8) - Pastrami, Gruyere, Dijon Mustard on Grilled Rye. Umami's had this one before and really likes it.
|
Pastrami Melt - Cross Section |
Makizushi likes grilled cheese sandwiches and wanted to try the Triple Melt ($6) - Vermont Cheddar, Dutch Gouda, and Gruyere on Sourdough.
|
Triple Melt |
Umami is partial to Kraft American Singles and White Bread, so the Triple Melt seems like a wild extravagance. But it is really good. Especially with the (Homemade) Fresh Tomato Soup ($2).
|
Fresh Tomato Soup |
It's not so much a tomato soup as it is a tomato bisque and, actually, Makizushi and Ms. D thought it was even more like a marinara dipping sauce for deep fried mozzarella.
|
Dunk! |
So, of course, the natural thing to do is dunk the Triple Melt into the soup. It's hard to beat fried/grilled cheese/bread and tomato soup/bisque. Umami loves it. Dr. Lois, not so much, but, then, she doesn't have to know.

OMG! That looks so good! On Friday, I was just about to go and order when the worker started to wipe off the menu board. I asked if I was still able to order and he said they didn't have enough food for an order. :( I guess I have to go earlier. Where is this wagon usually located? I saw it outside of Sports Authority on Ward.
ReplyDeleteHard to say for certain, so you should follow on internet or twitter. but they seem pretty regular on Tu and Th on Ward near Sports Authority and Wed downtown (on either Punchbowl or Mililani)
